City Hunter

The City Hunter / Nicky Larson license was acquired by Custom Arts from Sunrise in 2008. It is a cult Japanese animated series, originally broadcast in the 1980s, which left its mark on several generations with its unique blend of action, humor, and romance, combining thrilling adventures and crime storylines.

Unfortunately, we were not able to complete this project in 2008. In 2025, we requested the rights again to revive this project, still under the artistic direction of Philippe Dessoly, in charge of character design, packaging, and lithography.

Series Overview

City Hunter tells the adventures of Ryo Saeba, a private detective and elite marksman in Tokyo. Nicknamed the “City Hunter”, he specializes in protecting his clients and tracking down criminals, often with a flamboyant style and a laid-back attitude.

Always accompanied by his partner Kaori Makimura, Ryo juggles dangerous missions and comical situations. The series skillfully blends action, romance, and humor while exploring crime and suspense-filled storylines.

Products in Development

As part of this license, we will be launching four 1/6 scale figures, each limited to only 999 pieces. Each figure will be accompanied by a diorama, an exclusive lithograph signed by Philippe Dessoly, and a certificate of authenticity. The four figures are designed to assemble and form a unique and spectacular scene

Ryo Saeba: Private detective, weapons expert, notorious charmer, yet loyal and protective.
Kaori Makimura: Ryo’s partner, strong and determined, often the voice of reason, and uses a hammer to keep Ryo in line!
Umibozu: Former secret agent, friend and ally of Ryo.
Saeko Nogami: Police inspector and occasional client of Ryo.
